| Since you are counting: Look at the Supreme Court of the US - of the nine justices: 6 are Roman Catholic (assuming Sotomayor will be confirmed), 2 are Jews and only one is a WASP (the 89 year old JP Stevens). So despite nominal Protestants representing the majority of the US population and Anglo-Scot Protestants having formed the overwhelming majority of the framers of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and despite the fact that `separation of church and state` came from that philosophical, anti-clerical, anti-monarchic background - there are no qualified WASP jurists (of whatever gender or orientation) to judge major US cases. You only lost Norm Coleman - Cheer up, you still have an Israel-First Senator filling that seat. |
