| Housing Minister Ariel Atias raises an extremely troubling shadow of racism with his comments of segregation of Arab and Jewish communities as well as between secular and religious Jews. I have always opposed those remarks comparing Israeli policy to the South African Apartheid, but I can no longer defend that position if this Minister continues to make such divisive and disgusting statements that remind me of the sad era of Jim Crow -- separate but equal(?) in most of the Southern States in the USA. These remarks will only add fuel to the fire for Palestinian and Arab propaganda machine in its effort to dehumanize and de-legitimize all Jews and our relationship to Israel. Finally, you cannot develop a democratic and tolerant society by employing disparaging remarks about secular Jews versus religious Jews. We are all JEWS! Atias should be made to resign from the Cabinet. |
