| Dear Apa! Theocracy is when the Ayatola makes the decisions or has veto power over those hand picked candidates who met the religious aristocracy`s criterian are elected. Israel is and will remain a democracy. In fact much of the original inspiration for America`s democratic concept stems from her founder`s Old Testement beliefs. On the other hand, there are different kinds of democracies. No thinking person who lived in the US in the 50`s or 60`s could say the US wasn`t a "Christian" country. The ethos, values of the backbone of that nation were learned in church, as much as in public school. Israel is not different, except that her religion, her reason for existence, is different. Removing Judaism from Israel, from the IDF is like removing the reason my son`s are willing to risk their lives to defend their country and its people. I suggest if you don`t like it, move somewhere else. The moment Israel looses it`s soul there won`t be an Israel to live in anyway. |
