over 750,000 israelis live abroad - voting with their feet if some still pretend they plan to go back. Chance of that getting slimmer the more the state goes to the fundamentalists (that`s what they`re called here, in the US). israelis speak of "reverse aliyah".

A friend returning from a recent trip, visiting tel aviv, said that everywhere one looks it`s those `weird lookin` orthodox, unfriendly, never dressed for the weather, utterly ignorant of what`s what in the world and totally entitled (her words). Compared to them, the occasional scarf wearing but super polite arab lady was a breath of fresh air.

face it - the secular despise the ultra-orthodox with a passion far greater than the ire they may feel towards palestinians. One Israeli family told me they`d rather sell their apartment to any decent arab family than some orthodox alien (yes, they and thier 3 children are about to leave to the US for an "extended " stay).

If the palestinians are smart they should just wait.
