When France kicked military Nato out, it did it with gusto. When they conducted nuke tests against world opinion their verve persisted.
They didn`t whine how others judge them, or arrogant towards them, etc. (It`s how Israel was at Entebbe.)
I`m not suggesting any country should poke another in the eye, especially in today`s alignments, and yes, the alignments MATTER. Israel, advancing popular sovereignty in 1947 in the international alignment after Versailles 1919 finds a favourable climate (internationally). Try to do that at the Congress of Vienna, different story.
Nonetheless, if Israel wants to be brazen then stop complaining when others don`t agree. The brazen bit has to do with the settlements, whose colonization falls outside the `47 sanction of popular sovereignty. If not for that so much criticism falls away. If you care so much what the bully says then conform to what they want, or stop caring altogether. Bottom line, $US means influence, take it or leave it. |
