| Israel has ignored the US when it protested the settlements. Israel has used a powerful lobby to push US policy in its favor. Israel has stolen secrets (Pollard) and traded them with the USSR for immigration. Israel gladly takes $3 billion of aid, and gives little in return. Where is this `mutual respect` of which Ari Shavit speaks? And where has it been for the last few decades? The relationship between the US and Israel is consensual on both sides. Israel need not accede to US demands. The US need not support Israel. They can simply divorce. If you don`t like Obama and Emmauneul, then file for divorce proceedings. Very simple. |
