If this keeps up, Israel will become a state where people who are like Herzl will be persecuted by religious fanatics. Well, it is the nightmare the secular Jews created for themselves in dispossessing Palestinians in the West Bank. They encouraged the settlers and this encouraged Palestinian violence which in turn encouraged more Jews to be religious.
Playing with religion is dangerous as Sadat found out after promoting religious groups and then trying to change course. He got killed.
