Has Israel been a constructive member of the International Community?
Considering the sustained Israel-bashing these days, the answer is no. The world may even go as far as to say that Israel has been the problem in the Middle East. Maybe a deadlock honor with Iran. At least the current US administration believes this as well - hence the hardball policy.
Israel is stuck - military accomplishments/failures, marginalizing the Palestinians, dehumanizing the Arabs, funding the settlements, lip-service policies... for decades. She has to wake up.
The Europeans has been banging this drum for a long time now. The only difference this time is that US woke up earlier. Israel could offer so much to the region. Not as a tyrannical dictator but an equal partner. |
