A careful distinction must be made here:
Hawara is used by thousands of Palestinians every day and separates Nablus from the rest of the West Bank.
Notice that it does not separate Nablus from Israel, but FROM THE REST OF THE WEST BANK. In other words, this is not a border crossing, but a checkpoint separating one part of Palestine from another.
It is therefore not needed for Israel`s security because it does not lead into Israel.
It should not be opened for pedestrian traffic. It should be removed altogether.
