We need to give a good feeling to those who are living and working in Israel. That is only fair. I have encountered these new Israelis. I have met Thai youth who speak Hebrew better than Thai (if Thai at all) and other unexpected mixes of nationalities with Israeli ones.
If we do not give up the land of Israel to the Arabs we will have the room to accommodate our new non-Jewish arrivals.
Shas` vision is narrow and as the op-ed says not representative of Israel or the Jewish people. This idea of Jewish purity is nonsense and does not reflect Israel`s diverse make up. Give permanent residency to the parents and citizenship to the children our new Israelis. |
