Haaretz conveniently forgets that until 1978 Herut and later Likud were labeled a fascist party. And Mapai, Ahdut Avoda. Mapam called Beging a Fascist dictator despite the facts that Begin was a true democrat.
Most significant it was Begin and Likud government signed a Peace Treaty with Egypt and evacuated all Sinai in exchange for peace.
Haartez , it is cvounterproductive to endorse a Foreing Presidents meddling in Israeli Government affairs. Unless , Haaretz wants the French people vote in Israeli elections and chose government ministers and PM.
