| ...not in order to please Israelis. I totally understand that many Lebanese see Israeli presence in their country now as unwanted. And the recent exposure of Israeli spies supports their suspicions. If Israelis like to see their neighbor becoming the "Paris of the Middle East" again, and to be welcome guests there, great, but firstly they have to push for a normalisation between both nations. And that means an apology by Israel for the constant interference in Lebanese affairs, followed by concessions and retributions. And of course a similar acknoledgement by Lebanon of its own failures. Are there any majorities for this? It doesn`t look that way now. But simply believing that people will forgive and forget in the near future, when the last war was just three years ago, would be naive. |
