Israel excells in so many realms. But the most basic understanding of how necessary diplomacy and public relations are, remains a sore exception.
Why on earth does a country which suffers negative bias and bashing in so many diplomatic arenas DAVKA chooses for the "top of its diplomatic pyramid" a man that is globally unpleasant due to its words, is unfathomable. There are thousands of Israelis including politicians and MKs who can and should perform this crucial task for Israel.
Sarkozy is a friend of Israel. Only friends talk with candour. And he said the obvious. To see that for so many Israelis Sarkozy`s help triggered angry resistance only reflects something disfunctional both in the choice of FM and in the rational (if there was any) that led to it. Netanyahu should privately thank Sarzozy, and the rest of us mortals should do so publicly. I do. |
