i remember the brouhaha over the attack on Jenna a few years back.

There were badly overstated claims of damage and casualties by the Palestinians.

If one looked at the photos of the worst hit area, they showed total destruction. If one looked at overhead photography from satellites, it was VERY clear that the damage was limited to the small area where the gunmen held out.

It was also clear that the IDF took heavy casualties due to the restraint shown so as to not harm civilians and nearby structures.

Viewing overhead photography of the results of Cast Lead showed very different priorities for the IDF.

The IDF sought to maximize damage to the infrastructure. Cast Lead showed far different priorities for the IDF.

Gone was the desire to maximize casualties of gunmen while restraining collateral damage. Equally gone was the willingness to take casualties to take out Hamas.

Cast Lead was a punitive operation which targeted the infrastructure of Gaza rather than Hamas.
