In the old days Carmel College had C of E lessons for its dozens of Christian boys. When there was no vicar available, the Christians joined the Old Testament [but not the Hebrew] lessons with the Jewish majority. The prize for Jewish Bible Studies that year went to one of the Christians. That doesn`t make him Jewish. When I taught in Carmel I had several Christian boys in my Biblical Hebrew class. Although there was no official prize, had there been, one of the Christians would have been a good contender for it. Again that doesn`t make him Jewish.
