| Israel is in a position to close the Gaza crossings at will, and they do this as the mood strikes them. The outcry of the Palestinians can be ignored with impugnity. The situation is reversed in Israels current standoff with America. America doesn`t need to compromise. In fact, any compromise at all will be considered an Israeli "victory" at Obamas expense. Obama cannot afford a compromise. He cannot afford to back off even one inch. The Israeli leadership should recognize this, because the longer they take to comply, the more difficult it will become for them. Israel will be the one to capitulate, and the fact that they have no experience in this has them flustered as to how to go about it. Rather than fight Obama on the world stage, the Israeli leadership needs to huddle together and come to an understanding that now is a time for them to take the lead in Obamas enterprise and thus avoid being beaten into submission on the world stage. |
