To those of you who speak of the "Arabs only understanding force" : and what do we the Israelis understand?! You speak of a time and a place which no longer exist, except in your memories. I believe with all my heart that Israel has a right to exist, but anyone with the slightest amount of humanity and compassion must admit that a great injustice was done to the Palestinians. I am Israeli and I freely admit this.
They have sought to redress this injustice through war, terrorism, and sporadically through dialog. War clearly did not work for them, terrorism has had mixed results (although kidnapping soldiers clearly seems to be quite effective at getting our attention), and dialog has met a stone wall of indifference. So what do we understand? Nothing much it would seem. |
