| It is true that Israel is hostage to fanatics. It is also hostage to indifference. The indifference of the coastal dwelling, latte sipping, liberals that the hilltop dwelling extremists hold in such contempt. The government of Israel is determined to destroy any effort towards peace and the `average` Israeli doesn`t care. You may complain all you want about the government allowing criminal behavior by the Settlers. But it is YOUR government which has given them criminal license for decades. It is YOUR government, and as long as Israelis approve - as they most certainly did during the last elections - of a government which encourages, rewards and condones criminal behavior, then ISRAELIs are who to blame. All Israelis. Your nation has reached the point where it cannot feel comfortable without fear, nor normal without war. The Israel of 43 years ago would have loved nothing more than the chance to live peacefully within it`s borders. And now it can`t imagine such. |
