During the past two millennia, Jews constituted less than 10% of the population of Palestine. The Palestinians have natural priority rights in this land by every historical standard. No nation on earth can claim lands lost to the Romans two millennia ago. Israel`s attempt to do so is absurd. Neither is it biblical, for there is no biblical authority for the return of the Jews to the land they lost to the Romans by Divine authority, fully in accordance with Moses and all the prophets. The Jews lost this right by breaking their covenant with God according to the Scripture, the Tanach.
Israel`s only claim to the land today is purely secular, purely based on international law and institutions which establish that law. As a secular creation, Israel has neither secular nor religious basis for the establishment of a religious state, where religion and civil authority are combined, as the Settler`s would have it. |
