Which will probably give Israel a bloodier nose than the last war (and Lebanon will too pay a heavy price) and weaken its long term strategic position even further.
What Netanyahu is doing, actually helps Hezballah who would love nothing more than fighting the next war under the banner of the state of lebanon (ie with the lebanese army`s active involevment) and that may well harden the stance of the lebanese people against Israel, as fewer and fewer lebanese are willing to give the Israelis the benefit of the doubt. More an more Lebanese might, also conclude that fighting the Israelis is inevitable so they might as well focus on doing it well rather than try avoiding it.
Israel`s main advantage is its airforce - can it be sure that next time it can fly at will over Lebanon ? or that Hezballah will stick to a defensive strategy, fighting on lebanese soil only ? |
