| No doubt the media has been abused. By Egypt and the EU. Both seeking acknowledgment. That they are "on top of things"! That they have some line into Hamas. Its leadership and persuading them, To give back Gilad Shalit. Israel has denied these reports as falsehoods. I also agree. For much is at stake. For instance a melting of Israels official stance on the freezing of settlements. The "natural growth" of Jewish settlers. Hamas is currently divided, some wish to reconcile with Fatah. Whilst others pray for war. All do agree on Gilad Shalit. He is a high value hostage to be used against the ideas of middle of the road Israeli voters. Both the EU and Egypt made their bed. Now once again they fail to sleep on it. The opening of the Rafah Crossing, was not some freak of conscience by Egypt. Rather it was pressure exerted from the Quartet. Israel must stay on the only path it knows. "Firmness", no nonsensical European threats can ever substitute security from the extreme Jihadist movement. |
