| For years, Hamas has been shooting rockets into Israel. At first glance, this seems a reckless thing to do, as the rockets have a very limited effect over a very limited area. In exchange, Israel was certain to attack and isolate Gaza with devestating results. This was done repeatedly. This routine kept the issue before the eyes of the world and, eventually, Israels "disproportionate" responses alarmed the world into action. Had Hamas kept quiet over those years and practised peaceful coexistance, then Netanyahu would not be in the bind he is in today. We would not have the entire world ready to shove peace down the throat of Israel, even if they choke on it. Could this have all been a grand plan on the part of Hamas. In hindsight, it seems to be the only strategy with any chance of producing results and it has produced results. Now is the time for Hamas to make nice and be reasonable in order to reap the benefits of their work. Now is the time for Hamas to be involved in peace. |
