This is an extremely serious matter and a balance needs to be struck between adherence to military discipline and the so called moral principles to which the IDF allegedly adheres.
If the soldier is correct that such behaviour did take place, he is within his rights under international and Israeli military law to refuse to adhere to such behaviour. If such behaviour is not true, then he should be subject to a court-martial for not adhering to a lawful order. Alas, given the detailed nature of his complaints I believe he may have a case - and the battalion commander may well be subject to prosecution for either negligence or providing a framework in which such unlawful behaviour took place. Either way, it`s a sad day for the IDF. |
