Both Hamas and Fatah want to put the pressure upon Israel. This was not really doable until Obama was elected. Now that the American administration is damanding that Israel take real and concrete steps toward peace, the timing is right for Hamas and Fatah to reconcile and eliminate what might otherwise be a troubling distraction for the peace process.
