Well this is good. My wife is in Israel on a 2 week tour, a once in a lifetime experience.
I refused to go. The homophobia from the orthodox, and the utter hatred from the ultra-orthodox is amazing. Like they forget that when their relatives (and prob some of my 2nd cousins) went up hitlers smokestacks, they shared those ovens with Germany`s gays.
So, not going is $4500m extra that I can contribute to gay political groups here. And for the orthodox, their hatred is so similar to the hatred against the Jews that gave hitler the lever to gain total power.
And I am on the verge of joining the Unitarian Universalist church. They believe Jesus was a good man, but none of the BS son of God biz. And they are far more activly supportive of gay rights here in the USA, while I have had little if any success in our own reform temple. |
