| If the people on the street are protesting because of Iran`s internal problems, unemployment, lack of housing, lack of human rights, Iran will have to deal with them. Cracking down on protestors instead of dealing with the problems is not the solution. Spending oil money on increasing hegemony in the region, supporting Hezbollah and Hamas takes money away from spending money on the social contract. Sending in Hezbollah and Hamas to beat up Iranians, because the police would not want to hurt their own people, will make the people more bitter. My textbook compared this age in the ME to the time before the Russian Revolution. |
