Mind you: The US doesn`t have close ties with Iran, doesn`t support them economically and so on. It has no sticks.
(unlike its relations with Israel)
On the contrary: To condemn it too harshly would just serve those in Iran who label the protests as a western-backed quasi-revolution. People nowadays have forgot that Ahmadenijad won the last election in part because of the meddling of the Bush, who turned the Iranians towards a hardline president.
So: Obama probably does the smart thing. |
