| Technically a Jew is someone born to a Jewish Mother. Converts opens a different door indeed and currently there are many different ideas on who can actually convert and whose conversion is real. The bottom line is that one is required to go through training, then appear in front of a qualified beit din, then go to the mikveh and for men undergo a brit. All that aside, I believe that it is possible for a person to "fake" it through, but in the end, if you ask me who is a Jew, I would have to declare that only Hashem has the answer and He will inform us in His own time. |
