| This is a huge number and should not be made light of. Note that the question re Israel was whether the Palestinians should recognize Israel, not whether they should recognize it as a Jewish state. Fatah recognizes Israel and even Hamas says it would recognize it if the Palestinians agree ina plebiscite. So Israelis are just dithering when they say they have no partner for peace. It is just a subterfuge for continuing to build settlements and outposts. In today`s Guardian it`s reported that Barak has approved legalizing 60 houses and approving another 240 in an outpost built since 2001 in contravention of assurances to the U.S., and approving many more new settlements. It`s time to cut off this faithless "ally" from U.S. economic and political support. Obama needs to hang tough. |
