| if you`ve gone to any depth into comments and updates by iranian protesters, you`d find that what`s most important for them is that obama NOT recognize the legitimacy of ahmadinejad`s presidency. the few comments that DO mention american moral support specifically ask that it NOT be given lest the government use it to undermine the popularity of protest movement. which is exactly the reason given by obama. ANY association between the protesters and the american government, whether real or implied, would weaken its popularity. pro-democracy and reformist organizations in iran won`t even accept u.s. government attempts to funnel them money to further their cause; precisely because of that. obama has done "right" by the protesters. |
