"Just as Jews immigrated from Europe, Arabs immigrated from neighboring lands."
Actually, at the start of the 1900s, Palestinian Arabs made up 90% of the population, and owned most of the land. Despite waves and waves of Jewish immigration, they were still only one third of the population in 1948 - the Palestinians numbered over 1.3 million, the Jews 600,000. Only 7% of the land was owned by Jews, the rest by the Arabs at the time of the 1948 partition.
