Jakow (Jakub Romuald) is my very good friend, both of us used to work at the Catholic University in Lublin. We have had a lot of conversations on his Jewish identity, and I am proud that he ever wanted to share with me his problems. I still remember a long evening with him and late Michael Signer, from Notre Dame, a great jewish rabbi and our friend. Jakow is a Jew until the tips of his finger, as well as he is the Polish Jew - since lives in the polish culture. No wonder, that when he`s retired, he wants to learn the Israeli culture and language. I know it was his dream from a logn time ago. Jakow has writen his Ph.D. on Henri Bergson`s philosophy. He is verys commited not only to his philosophy, but also to his thesis that "Christianity (in some sense) is a fulfiment of Judaism". So, following Bergson he defnies himself as a Jew from Jesus. I know, that for most of the Jews his position might be absolutely incosnistent, but you should try to understand his. Give him aliyah!
