Several US independent polls before and after the election show that Ahmadinejad would, and did, win by a landslide. Their surveys were conducted across all 30 of Iran`s provinces, and were not confined to Tehran, as most other western ones are. Those who are working class were most likely to vote for the present president, as were the vast majority of those aged 18-24. See the article, The Iranian People Speak, by Ken Ballen & Patrick Doherty, in the Washington Post on Monday 15 June 2009.

The same voters also expressed a desire for good relations with US, for full IAEA inspections of their nuclear sites, and thought that President Ahmadinejad was the man most likely to extract the best bargain from the West, especially the US.

The question we should be asking is how much money has the CIA ponied up to fuel the unrest - the word on the street is 400 million dollars - and how much of this has gone into the pockets of Mousavi, or Rafsanjani who has a reputation for being corrupt?

The West?s relationship with Iran these last 60 years alone has been an abusive and hostile one. It is highly likely that we are behind this latest attempt to put into power someone more willing to sell us oil at reduced rates than the present leadership.
