| The Shah of Iran, who was not perfect, seeked to modernize Iran, and bring it into the 20th century. He was a friend of the West. However, the ruling Ayatollahs in Iran have seeked to impose Islamic law upon the Iranians (including stoning of women for trivial offenses). For 444 days, radical Iranian students imprisoned, beat, and abused our diplomats, in violation of international law. Shouts of "Death to America", and "Death to Israel", were not uncommon at rallies. Now, I`m supposed to have sympathy for the Iranians, because they are dissatisfied with their government, which they freely supported?? Please!! |
