| The cornerstone of Obama`s foreign policy is producing a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine. Agreeing to a settlement freeze alone would probably bring down the Netanyahu government. There is certainly no way Netanyahu could afford a peace treaty which would end the Israeli right`s dream of having all of historic Judea and Samaria included in a Greater Israel. The only possible chance for peace at this time is if - big IF - Netanyahu wanted to be given the fig leaf of stating the United States had `forced` him to make peace. And anyone who has watched Bibi Netanyahu`s career knows he doesn`t want any peace agreement and does not `want` to be forced into it. Obama has chosen to jaw-bone a peace agreement were such is impossible. He will discredit himself. |
