Here is one honest person (of whatever political persuasion) who calls for civil marriage and civil options for other matters of personal status in Israel.
The current system, dating back to British Mandatory and Ottoman times, is a relic of the 19th century that should not exist in the 21st.
Jews will probably always argue about "who is a Jew," but this should not carry over to matters that are fundamentally civil in the modern/democratic world. Certainly critical matters of state should not be determined by the most right wing fringe of the right wing population.
I doubt that a majority of Israel`s Jews want Israel to be a "Jewish State" in this sense.
