If Israel is to survive, it must reconcile with the Palestinians and Syria. Economics will drive the resolution. Israel cannot afford to sustain an occupation army, especially if the USA cuts the $5.8 billion in annual aid.
Secondly a suppressed Palestine will always be a breeding ground for terrorism. A free, prosperous Palestine would not be a threat. It is to Israel`s advantage to assist Palestine in becoming prosperous. Destitute people react against an occupier, but people with opportunities build wealth and partnerships. |
