The Conservative movement, in rejecting the doctrine of the written and oral law divinely transmitted together at Sinai, places itself squarely and within the same camp as Reform, Liberal, etc. Indeed, the Conservative movement presents a far more insidious threat to unaffiliated Jews than its fellow more colourful heresies, mainly thanks to the superficial affinity to orthodox Jewish ritual practises. At least, in the case of Reform, it can be said that, operationally, it is so obviously beyond the pale of normative Torah Judaism, there is no fear of it being confused with the genuine article.
