| `In Israel, the party that won the most votes in the election doesn`t have a single representative in the government. This sad fact makes mockery of Israeli criticism of Irans democracy.` Obviously, Miss Durson, you have no inkling how a parliamentary democracy functions. Kadima barely won a tiny plurality - not a majority - of the votes. It rejected a offer from Likud to form a coalition governemnt. It did not have the needed votes in the Knesset (61) to form a majority government on its own or with its electoral allies. Likud and its allies did. That`s called parliamentary - or as others prefer to call it, `Westminster` - democracy, my dear. Attack it, and you attack the governing mechanism of every parliamentary democracy on Earth - starting with Great Britain, and including Israel. Your attack is the true mockery of democracy, and is a transparent ruse to shift attention from yet another such mockery: Iran`s presidential election. MV |
