| Americas goal, and Obamas goal, is a two state solution with a viable Palestinian state in the west bank and Gaza. It remains to be seen what the word "viable" means in this context, but one thing is assured. It will require a substantial withdrawal of the Israeli settlements. Obama is working toward this, one step at a time. Because Obamas intention is the evacuation of most settlements, he can make small concessions on settlement growth. The growth issue will be mooted later on. |
