"A week from Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to meet with U.S. special envoy George Mitchell in Paris to discuss the details."
So Israel has a week from Thursday to rubber-stamp any and all "projects" so that they can claim those projects are already "underway".
Such nonsense.
The USA will not agree to this for the simple reason that this works against the USA`s interest.
A prediction: Mitchell will say only those projects that were already "approved" prior to 2003 (but which have not yet been "completed") can escape the freeze.
"The source said that if an attempt were made to order a halt to construction, contractors or homeowners would appeal to the High Court of Justice and probably win."
Yeah, and.....?????
Having to pay compensation to Israeli construction firms because Bibi doesn`t want to cut a deal with Abbas is, honestly, a small part of what this US strategy is all about i.e. to to make Bibi pay a cost for his inaction. |
