Traison is correct that negotiations are the only route to any settlement, but she must first accept the fact that the world needs to stop infantilizing the Palestinians, freeing them from any shred of responsibility or accountability. Instead of allowing them to ?throw the ball? to Obama, the world needs to insist on a Palestinian counter proposal, and it can?t just be ?everything we want? again. I take the Palestinians seriously when they say they believe in a so-called ?right of return? and don?t pretend that it is just posturing, just as I take seriously Netanyahu?s belief in settlement expansion. Neither is going to get those or everything else it wants.
The reality is that the Israelis have far more cards to play. Anywhere else in the world, that means that the would mean that the weaker party would be expected to have to compromise more. How about applying those same rules here for a change?
