The Palestinians have to face reality, that full statehood is a long way off and that it will take time to achieve. One would think that a state even without military would be welcomed, at least as a stage along the way.
Two factors are important here. The Palestinians have not earned the right to a militarized state -- the naked agggression of the Palestinians in Gaza has taught Israelis to beware of those who ideology calls for the destruction of the Jewish state.
And then there is the resurgent Persian empire, eager to arm anyone who has it in for Israel. |
