| I cannot understand why the Palestinian leadership is so quick to condemn Netanyahu. Here lies the opportunity for initial statehood, control of all diplomatic and economic matters maybe not to the level that the Palestinians want, but at the very least a nation called Palestine, and it is met with condemnation. The point of negotiations is to find a truce and middle ground. Here lies Netanyahu`s opening proposal, to simply condemn it and say that it is a deterrent to peace is irrational. Here is the center-right and far-right agreeing that Palestine should be a state and it is met with condemnation. If anything, it should be commended and determined an important forward movement in both peace and nationalization negotiations. Why not have a demilitarized state until proven otherwise? Why is a military so necessary? Settlers can be given a choice to become Palestinians or return to Israel to become Israelis, a military can be granted once demilitarized peace is proven. |
