| The sadness of your argument,Mr. Levy,is that it comes from no less a doctrinaire position (albeit the polar opposite one)than that of the "right" you so eagerly mock. Seems to me, after 40 visits to Israel over 30 years that a Palestinian State is not really the issue. Rather, isn`t it a matter of what kind of state? Your view suggests that somehow, the Palestinians, if Israel acccedes to everything, will suddenly become nice and stop incitement and rockets etc. Where in your memory is the reality that the Palestine Liberation Organization was founded three years BEFORE the Occupation? The 1967 borders had not been created!! Or, was your friend Arafat that prescient? Another friend and hero of yours, James Earl Carter, just stated that he believes the Etzion bloc of settlements will remain in Israel. Obama seems pleased with the Bibi speech. That leaves just Hamas, the PA and you clinging to your disdain and your antipathy for anything other than what YOU think is right. |
