| Only a kamikaze government would entertain the idea of a militarised Palestinian state on its borders after the response to the Gaza pullout and the election of a government called `Violence` which is dedicated to Israel`s destruction. I once heard an Israeli general refer to theorising on Israel from the sidelines as `salon talk`. When your existence is at stake you don`t turn to armchair critics for advice. Pre-1948 Palestinians were Jews and Arabs, the Jerusalem Post was the Palestinian Post. If peaceful partition had been accepted then, the Arab Palestians could be economically thriving. I suspect this has much more to do with fundamental Islamic concepts than than ordinary `Palestinian` Jews or Arabs not wanting peace. |
