| As someone who has been very critical of Carter and other like-minded Americans, I have to acknowledge the fact that he did what most other critics of Israel have not done - actually visited an Israeli community in Judea and Shomron. Of course, once one sees the reality on the ground, as Carter did in Gush Etzion, then suddenly all the absolutist anti-"settlement" rhetoric no longer seems so rational. It would be nice if Carter were to make a comprehensive tour of all the major communities in the `West Bank.` I guess I shouldn`t get my hopes too high. |
