| There is nothing more threatening to a demagogue like Ahmadinejad than a USA president like Obama. Ahmadinejad thrives on being in conflict, on fear mongering on "saving" the Muslim world from the western devil. A hawkish USA president threatening to use military force to contain Iran`s nuclear policy would be for him a gift from heaven. One of the reasons why Moussavi was successful to rally support, even among the political establishment, was his claim that Iranian interests (including the nuclear one) could be advanced much better without the rabble rousing provocations of Ahmadinejad. True, Moussavi would not be a friend to Israel, but not being dependent on the existence of an external threat, he would be guided more by rationality and by concrete interests and much less by ideology. Unfortunately, it seems that many Jews and Israelis are so annoyed by Big Ugly Ahmadinejad`s utterances that they have lost the capacity to see the little demagogue. |
