| When it comes to how Israels interests are affected as a result of the election then Ahmadinejad was the one Israel needed. There is no evidence the new guy would have been better for Israel but because he is classed as reformer and wants to improve relations with the US then Obama would have probably been on the first plane to Iran. The Iranian problem would have been turned on its head and Obama would have been talking to Iran as an ally and what do they think is best to deal with Israel which is Obamas enemy in the region. The only bad thing for Israel has been the riots contesting the election result. That might make Obama decide he is right and should be soft on the Iranian nuclear issue because if he gets tough then all these fans of the reformer might decide they actually like the monkey. So Ahmadinejad was the man Israel needed to win but the riots are the unknown quantity in how it will affect US policy. |
