| Netanyahu should fully embrace the Saudi peace initiative as a good general framework subject to final negotiations. The odds are the Palestinians will again shoot themselves in the foot as they`ve done from the partition in 1947 through Arafat`s obstructionism at Taba in 2000. This will expose them worldwide to at least the political center of world opinion, thus strengthening Israel`s hand diplomatically when it needs to get tough and possibly hit Iran. Yet if the impossible happens and the Palestinians do actually agree to a plan similar to Taba 2000 in which there is territorial compromise, full sovereignty in exchange for the formal end of all claims against Israel with balance of reparations for both Arabs who fled Israel and Jews who fled the Arab countries, and full peace with the entire Arab world, Israel would also win, while Ahmedinijad`s Iran would be totally isolated. |
